I was so impressed by the auditions you all had. Regardless of if you made it or not, feel free to talk to me next week if you'd like to see your scores, and see what you should focus on in choir next year. If you didn't make it this year and are a 6th grader, I'm confident you can make it next year if you put in some good work in those places. If you made it, now you're expected to continue to improve as a singer and as a choir member. Unfortunately, we had less space available than singers, so some awesome people didn't make it this year. BUT! I'm excited for awesome singers in all of our choirs next year...it's looking to be a great year!
Hi all, below is a link to a document that details summer camp and lesson opportunities you may want to take advantage of. Credit goes to Connie Dewlen over at Westview who has compiled this for her students, and is sharing it with us and anyone else that would like to use the information. Let me know if you have any questions, but it would be best to contact the company/person listed there.
It's almost that time of year! 7th and 8th Grade music students have the option of attending the Elitches trip on the last day of school. Students should be bringing this form home tonight, but you can download the form below yourself if it gets misplaced on the way (which, of course, would NEVER happen), or read it in browser after the picture. It contains eligibility requirements, cost, and the permission form. We need chaperones as well, and we'd love to have you join us!
E-mail me with any questions. Thanks!
8th Graders, if you're interested in being a part of Niwot's musical production next year, here's the info! Let me know if you have questions or need help with anything like getting music or choosing the right 32 measures to sing.
From Laura Marshall, Choral Director at Niwot HS:
We have picked our fall musical for next year! We are doing Drowsy Chaperone. Auditions will be on Tuesday, April 18th after school in the Niwot HS choir room. Students need to prepare part (~32 measures) of a music theatre song (we have an accompanist so well need sheet music as well if possible) and a 1-2 minute monologue!
Questions may be directed to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Practice helps you feel more comfortable and confident, which is always good! It's on the "Students" tab or click HERE. Happy practicing, and let me know if there are any questions!
It's almost here! Here's everything you need to know. Feel free to e-mail me with questions!
Students have been working on Solo and Small Group performances that they'll be doing in class next week. They've chosen songs and have been preparing them for the last month. For those students interested, they may attend the festival Sunset hosts on Saturday, February 25th and sing for judges (parents and friends can watch, too!) and then get good feedback and get some time to work with the judge on techniques to improve. Please encourage your students to try, as it's a incredibly valuable and rewarding experience. Plus, I give extra credit!
For more information check out this permission form:
Permission forms and $$$ due no later than the 16th of December (before break).
Concert Choir has been invited to join the orchestra students on a field trip to watch the Colorado Symphony perform at Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver. We'll be gone all day, and students will have the opportunity to see a professional ensemble perform; the program is centered around engaging students and educating them about orchestras and classical music. Afterwards, we'll get to go to the mall for lunch before heading back to Sunset. The cost is $15 per student, and covers the ticket and bus ride. This is an optional field trip, but we hope everyone will be able to come!
Permission form and more information is here:
There will be a short parent meeting and group performance at the end of the audition practice on Monday, December 12th. This practice time will help students prepare their audition pieces with help from Mrs. Lewis and Mr. Wubbena so they can have the best chance of success! The parent meeting at the end will inform parents of the expectations for our musical and give them a chance to ask any questions....plus, they'll get to see what our students learned in one afternoon!
