How to Maintain Vocal Health
I was talking to a student about how to help alleviate and prevent sickness yesterday. Staying healthy is important for everything we do, but especially for choir! So I wanted to share a drink that works wonders for me (and is tasty as well), as well as a few tips for keeping your voice in good shape so everyone can set themselves up for success. Mr. Wubbena's Cold Killer Cocktail Recipe
I love this stuff! I always feel better after drinking it. It's packed with vitamins for your body to use to fight your sickness, as well as natural products that soothe symptoms and aid your body in healing itself. The lemon (especially the juice) helps reduce phlegm and shorten the cold's lifetime. The honey helps soothe a sore throat, and the Emergen-C is just packed with lots of good vitamins. Drink one of these each day, and you'll kick the sick out of your body in no time!
(Pro Tip: Supplement this with Zinc tablets or spray, following the directions on the packaging. Zinc helps shorten colds and make symptoms more mild. Buy the generic brand at King Soopers for the best price!)

7th and 8th grade students have two awesome opportunities to participate in Honor Choirs this year. As I told the students in class, I haven't met a single person who has walked away from those events saying anything but positive things. I've talked to adults in their 50's that still remember their All State experience...it's something you never forget because it's such an incredible mountaintop experience.
